Growing up in the southern part of Nigeria, I always admired the name “Tega.” It had a mysterious ring to it, and those who bore the name seemed to show a unique charm and vibe with everyone around them. Fast forward to a time when I needed a name for a competition, and I found myself at a loss for ideas. That’s when inspiration struck, and I decided to get creative with my two middle native names: “Temitope” and “Ogele.”
By taking the first two letters of each name and swapping the positions of “O” and “G,” I came up with “Tego.” It was a simple yet unique combination, and I realized I liked “Tego” far more than “Tega.”
Now, 14 years later, “Tego” is still used by my closest friends. Whenever I hear someone call me “Tego,” I know they’ve known me for a long time. It’s a name that has stuck with me and become a special part of my identity.
